Privacy notice for this website
Habriq Ltd operates this company website and also builds Nearby, our neighbourhood product. This notice explains how we handle personal information when you browse www.habriq.rw (and habriq.rw) or send the contact form. It does not replace Nearby’s Privacy Policy, which covers accounts, listings, chat, and payments on Nearby.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Habriq Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Rwanda. Habriq builds software, research, and data tools for communities. Nearby is a product of Habriq Ltd - the same company - available on nearby.habriq.rw. For privacy questions about this company website, email the address at the end of this notice. For privacy questions about a Nearby account, use the contacts in Nearby’s Privacy Policy.
2. What this notice covers
This notice applies to: • browsing the Habriq company website (www.habriq.rw and habriq.rw); and • messages you send through the contact form on this site. It does not apply to how Nearby processes phone numbers, home-area pins, listings, chat, or Mobile Money details you save in the product. Those practices are described only in Nearby’s Privacy Policy. Opening Nearby from this website takes you to that product and its own privacy rules.
3. Information we collect
When you write to us through the contact form we collect: your name, email address, the role you select (individual, vendor, institution, press, or other), and your message. When you visit the site or submit the form we may also collect technical data such as IP address, browser or device type, and security logs (including to limit repeated or abusive submissions). This company website does not ask for a Nearby phone number, home pin, listing content, chat messages, or payment details.
4. How we use it
We use this information to: • reply to your note and follow up where appropriate; • keep the website working, secure, and available; • remember the language you chose; • understand the kinds of enquiries Habriq receives (for example interest in Nearby as a product); and • comply with applicable law. We do not use company-website contact details alone to create a Nearby account. If your message is about Nearby, we may use it to respond in our capacity as Nearby’s operator, still under this notice for the website enquiry unless you later use Nearby under its own policies.
5. Cookies and similar storage
This website may store a small amount of data on your device so it can remember the language you chose. Hosting and security systems may set strictly necessary cookies. We do not add advertising cookies on this company site, and we do not sell browsing data from this site.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who host this website or help deliver your message (for example email or a contracted delivery tool), and only so they can provide that service; when required by law; or with your consent. Because Habriq operates Nearby, staff who support both the company site and Nearby may see a contact-form message when you ask about the product - that is internal handling within Habriq Ltd, not a sale of your data to a third party.
7. Retention
We keep contact messages as long as needed to reply and to keep a reasonable business record of the enquiry, then delete or anonymise them where practicable. Security logs are kept for a limited time.
8. Your rights
Subject to Rwanda Law No. 058/2021 of 13/10/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy, you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you from this website, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. Email us to exercise these rights. We may need to verify your identity first. Rights about data held inside a Nearby account are exercised under Nearby’s Privacy Policy.
9. Lodging a complaint
If you believe we are processing your personal information unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Office of Rwanda. Details are available at https://dpo.gov.rw.
10. Children
This company website and the contact form are intended for people aged 18 and over. Do not send us personal information about a child through this form.
11. International processing
Some service providers may process data outside Rwanda. Where this happens, we take steps required by applicable law to protect the information, including using providers that commit to appropriate safeguards.
12. Nearby (a Habriq product)
Nearby is designed, operated, and published by Habriq Ltd. It is not a separate company. When you use Nearby - including signing in with a phone number, setting a home area, posting, messaging, and completing exchanges - Nearby’s Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions apply in addition to any information you may already have shared with us on this company website. Links such as “Open Nearby” take you from this marketing site to the Nearby product host. That change of surface does not mean Habriq ceases to be responsible; it means a different product contract and privacy notice apply to that use.
13. Changes
We may update this notice. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of this website after an update means you accept the revised notice, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.
